Sinclairs Garage is an artist-run, egalitarian, and utilitarian artist book publisher with an emphasis on underrepresented artists who are isolated by life choices, parenthood, career status, geography, and or non-current art market viability. Sinclairs Garage fully funds, distributes, and promotes the publications. Their publications are democratically available, affordable, and produced in open editions.
Suzannah Sinclair
Sinclair is a painter who moved from Brooklyn, New York to rural Maine over 10 years ago and has found the experience very particular. She draws on personal strengths and lived experiences as curator of this publishing platform. Suzannah Sinclair has been an exhibiting artist for over fifteen years. Her work has been exhibited in numerous venues including Samsøñ, Boston, MA; Stene Projects, Stockholm, Sweden; and New Image Art Gallery Los Angeles, CA. She was included in the 2011 Portland Museum of Art Biennial in Maine. She has been reviewed in many publications including ArtForum, The Boston Globe, and The Portland Press Herald. She has exhibited at many national and international art fairs including NADA, Miami: Volta, NYC; MACO, Mexico City; Dallas Art Fair, TX; and Market Art Fair, Sweden. She most recently curated Egg Tempera Now: a modest revival at Able Baker Contemporary in Portland, Maine. She received a BFA in Printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art in 2002. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany because of her family’s US Army station. She was raised in New Jersey and currently lives and works in Central Maine.
